We are a team of global venture builders dedicated to supporting early stage companies using technology to solve energy, agriculture, mobility, and waste challenges in the emerging markets.
We achieve this by using a thesis-based investing approach to de-risk companies and then roll up our sleeves and work side-by-side, in-market to help our ventures scale and create sustainable impact in the world.
How We Work
We build technology-informed investment strategies with our partners, to disrupt the status quo in energy, agriculture, transportation, and waste. Sometimes we can’t find the start-up we’re looking for, so we create it; combining world-class technology & market intelligence with hand-picked entrepreneurs-in-residence.
We’re extremely hands-on at the seed stage. Our founders get unparalleled early stage venture and technology support, which includes our Engage program, access to a network of fellow founders operating in emerging markets, access to customers, channels to market, and even policy support – as well as the potential for additional non-dilutive funding from our foundation partners.
We follow-on fund our highest performing ventures, providing impact investors exclusive access to de-risked, disruptive, deal flow through a dedicated opportunity fund which targets commercial returns while delivering outsized impact.

Do you have a geographic preference?
We invest in companies that create impact in the emerging markets. We have a concentrated presence in East Africa and India but will consider investing in other emerging market locations.
What stage of companies do you invest in?
We invest in seed stage companies that are often times pre-revenue. Our technical expertise and in-market knowledge allows us to see the impact and commercial potential of technology when it is in very early stages of development.
What industries do you invest in?
We focus on four industry verticals: mobility, agriculture, access to energy, and waste and sanitation.
What is your typical deal size?
Our typical deal size is 250-750k
What is thesis-based investing?
Thesis-based investing is about identifying the ways markets could improve and investing to instigate or accelerate that disruption. A thesis is dynamic: constantly evolving to incorporate new data from the market, new technologies on the horizon, and shifting to stay in front of a sector.

We support our startups in the following ways:
